Composer and singer Anand Raaj Anand has returned to the Welcome franchise with a recreated version of his 2007 hit "Ucha Lamba Kad," now titled "Ucha Lamba Kad Forever," featured in Welcome to the Jungle, releasing in theatres on June 26, 2026. The original track, composed, written, and sung by Anand alongside singer Kalpana Patowary, was picturised on Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in director Anees Bazmee's Welcome. The recreation is sung by Anand and new voice Rubai, with fresh lyrics by Meggha Bali alongside the original lyrics penned by Sameer.

The song's revival is part of a deliberate nostalgic strategy by the Welcome to the Jungle team — produced by Firoz A. Nadiadwala and directed by Ahmed Khan — which decided to recreate two iconic tracks from the first Welcome to tap into audience nostalgia while giving them a fresh feel for a new generation. 

"I Was in a Creative Zone, Not Gone"

Speaking with this publication, Anand pushed back firmly against the idea that his reappearance constitutes a return from absence. "I don't think I ever went away. I was simply in a creative zone rather than an execution zone. Music never left me, and neither did my passion for it. This phase feels like a natural continuation of my journey," he said.

The distinction matters to him. The public-facing gap in his output, he suggests, was never a creative one. For an industry where visibility is often mistaken for productivity, the clarification signals the difference between an artist pausing public performance and one who has stepped away entirely.

"The title Welcome itself feels like a signature in my life. It's almost as if people are saying, 'Anand, you're back.' I am overwhelmed by the love I have received. In fact, I am getting much more affection than I had imagined," he said.

A Midnight Call That Became Musical History

Anand recalled with remarkable clarity the circumstances under which the original track came to life in 2007. "I still remember receiving an urgent call around midnight from the team behind Welcome. They needed three songs within just 15 days. Those songs eventually became history. Ucha Lamba Kad and Honth Rasiley continue to be loved even today," he said.

That compressed timeline — three songs in a fortnight — produced what would become some of Bollywood's most enduring dance numbers of that decade. The original track has since continued to find relevance across television broadcasts, social media content, and short-form video platforms, a longevity that ultimately made its revival for the third instalment feel organic rather than opportunistic.

The recreation has been produced by Vikram Montrose, who added fresh energy to the arrangement while retaining the essence that made the song a fan favourite. The new version features Akshay Kumar and Disha Patani.

Gratitude Toward Akshay Kumar and the Franchise

On his long-standing professional relationship with Akshay Kumar, Anand was measured and specific. "I feel extremely grateful to Akshay Kumar and the entire team for deciding to bring back Ucha Lamba Kad. Their belief in the song and its legacy means a lot to me. I think it is the mutual trust and belief in good music. Whenever everyone comes together with the intention of creating something entertaining and memorable, magic happens," he said.

The sentiment echoes a broader truth about the Welcome franchise: its music has consistently outlived the box-office cycle of its films, embedding itself in pop culture in ways that few franchise soundtracks manage.
